Hey - I have been attending AA but have difficulties with a lot of the old dogma / Christianity.  That said, I don't find online mtgs to be all that helpful - please let me know if there are Seattle area in person mtgs. Thanks,
Ian

Ian,
Welcome. I'm in Pa so I don't know about meetings in Seattle.
Glad you found us.

For the Christian thing, you might want to try NA, too. They are a bit less pushing on that. As for meetings, I know someone who went to Spain recently and went to meetings while there. Meetings are everywhere, pretty much. I don't know if AA has a website but I know NA does. Sometimes some meeting sites are dated, but at least it gives you a place to start. You could also try a local rehab center. They should have meeting lists. Good luck!

Don't Know of any Seattle Pagan Based meetings.
We do have an On-Line PIR meeting on Sunday eve. I know you said you don't find them helpful but it is a place to start.

As for the Xian problem you face. Here on PIR we tend to help people deal with it, Learn to accept that others are entitled to their religious beliefs just as much as we are. Many of us came into this Forum with a Chip on our shoulder and we were ready to throw it at the next person that mentioned Xianity in a meeting. But if I have the right to practice My religion so do they. Just because my beliefs follow a line of NON Prostelization so I am less vocal about it, does not mean a religion that practices conversion cannot exist in the rooms.

So, if you let us, we will help you get past the resentment toward Xistanity and in doing so you will feel a freedom that you did not know existed. (That was my experience anyway)

Hey, it's not specifically Pagan, but I just learned of a bonfire AA meeting 9:00 on Alki Beach just north of the shelter.  I can't imagine a bonfire next to the tide not feeling at least a little Pagan, eh?  Also, I'm pretty out as Pagan-ish in the meetings I go to right now.  Maybe they're just giving me leeway because I'm a newcomer again, but possibly Seattle is just a little more Pagan friendly in general than most other cities.

You might also try hosting a 12 step meeting at pagan gatherings or out at the Longhouse.  Just an idea.

Ooo -- or Traveler's on Capitol Hill.  Been there?  That place has great energy (and great chai).

Let me know if you come across or organize something.
