Hello.  I am 39 years old and just over 3 years in recovery.  I am not a Pagan or a Christian.  Still searching, reading, praying and meditating on this each day.  I found your website by a lovely series of 'coincidences'...From Margot Adler's book "Drawing down the Moon" mentioning AA Pagan meetings, to googling the phrase, reading about it on Wikipedia and finding the link to your forum.  Hooray!

I'm hoping this forum will be another link to my ongoing spiritual journey.  I have had extraordinary experiences in recovery which have deepened my acceptance of a Higher Power, but am looking for something more.  I don't feel powerless anymore, I feel I have been restored to sanity (a promise made in step 2 after all!) and I'm struggling with the archaic, patriarchal attitudes of most of my AA meetings.  Whilst I accept that I still need the meetings I am looking for a more Universally open-minded paradigm to practise my recovery.

Welcome Mon!

It is cool to think of people reading Drawing Down the Moon as it was only one of two (The Spiral Dance by Starhawk was the other) popular books when I started Wicca and before the days of the Internet!

My spirituality has changed over the years and I don't quite know how to describe myself anymore except non-traditionalist...with a focus on energy...and a connection to the universe.

And I am still exploring and learning but one day it just REALLY clicked for me that I seriously needed to have something that I truly and viscerally believed in because one day when I would be the mesmerizing throws of cunning addiction, and I would really need it, and that I would get the love and forgiveness from MY version of a higher power that I had been searching for in alcohol, food and relationships.

Sending everyone good vibrations as it was a beautiful sunny day by the ocean in the pacific northwest of Canada (and I went to a really good meeting tonight!).
